Each project has its own unique challenges and opportunities but at the heart of it, all architectural projects are about people.
I love meeting new people and working with them to flesh out their dreams and get them built. Building is expensive and the industry in New Zealand is quite fragmented and complicated to navigate. I specialize in guiding clients to find the easiest path to their dream homes or renovations and I have worked with the same groups of consultants and builders for over 20 years to establish supply chains that reduce costs and make building less stressful.
Born in the United Kingdom to a kiwi mom, I moved to New Zealand when I was 19 to study Architecture. I got my Masters in Architecture (with distinction) and Bachelor of Architecture from Victoria University, Wellington and then worked for a few firms in Wellington and London before setting up on my own in 2001. I have been a NZ Registered Architect since 1998 and worked in Wellington for the first ten years of my practice then moved to Auckland in 2011. I have built over a hundred new homes and renovations in that time and been lucky enough to build on some of the best sites in New Zealand and and my work has been published in Architecture New Zealand, Houses New Zealand, Urbis, Archis (Netherlands).
I am a keen (some would say fanatical) football (soccer) fan and still harbor dreams of one day being discovered and invited to play for the mighty Arsenal FC. I have two teenage sons who now outrun me on the football field and take up much of my Saturday mornings with their football games. I usually meet clients in their homes for the first meeting to discuss their project in the evenings or weekends. My first meeting is free (provided I am fed copious quantities of biscuits and tea). I look forward to meeting you to discuss your dream project!
